ECCO Tannery Thailand has recently been audited on the correct implementation of the Environmental Auditing Protocol for Leather Manufacturers.
We are very proud to announce that the tannery achieved the highest ranking Gold Award.
The main focus of the audit concerns the permits, standards, procedures and control regarding the use of restricted substances and complying with all local and international environmental and safety requirements.
The audit is internationally acknowledged and this award reinforces to our existing and new customers that the ECCO Leather Group is taking the environment very seriously. It endorses that we are following the highest standards regarding restricted chemicals and environmental management.
Many footwear brands like attach great value to this and it underscores the importance of producing in an environmentally friendly and responsible way.
WHAT IS THE LEATHER WORKING GROUP?
The objective of this multi-stakeholder group is to develop and maintain a protocol that assesses the compliance and environmental performance of tanners and promotes sustainable and appropriate environmental business practices within the footwear leather industry. The group seeks to improve the tanning industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities, bringing visibility to best practices and providing suggested guidelines for continual improvement. It is the group's objective to work transparently, involving suppliers, brands, retailers, leading technical experts within the leather industry, NGOs, academic institutions and other stakeholder organisations. The LWG is facilitated by BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd.
